Why this matters Every write leaves little fragments behind in your database. Over time those fragments slow queries down. We clean them up automatically (defragmentation) for MariaDB and PostgreSQL, so you never have to run OPTIMIZE TABLE yourself. And we're one of the only hosters doing this.

Why this matters The InnoDB buffer pool is one of the most important knobs for database performance. It keeps frequently-used data and indexes in memory, so queries don't have to hit disk every time. Set too small, you feel it in your response times. We size it for your workload and keep watching.
